Brandon Moreno did not appreciate being asked about the UFC event in Washington D.C.
The former two-time UFC flyweight champion will fight in front of his home fans once again, as he headlines Saturday’s card in Mexico City.
Many fighters have followed up victories thus far in 2026 by calling for a spot on the UFC’s lineup at the White House on June 14.
But fans should not be expecting the same if Moreno beats Lone’er Kavanagh on February 28.

Brandon Moreno gets agitated by reporter’s UFC White House question
Moreno has zero interest in being a part of the event, which will mark a celebration of 250 years of American independence.
‘The Assassin Baby’ made that abundantly clear during media day ahead of Saturday’s UFC Mexico City card at Arena CMX.
One reporter queried if the flyweight contender would be interested in being part of the card in Washington D.C., and to that he asked what could possibly make him want to fight there.
“Do you think that event might need some Mexican talent as well?” Moreno was asked by the journalist.
The response was confrontational, especially by the ex-flyweight champ’s standards.
“Brother, I want you to tell me why I would want to be there,” he began.
“For what?” Moreno added when the reporter suggested the event was “very special.”
After the Mexican star asked if the event was “special” for the reporter, he responded by saying, “For the company.”
Moreno shrugged his shoulders, shook his head, and made it clear he was not interested in taking further questions from that journalist.
“I’m not interested. Thank you very much.”
Why some American fighters aren’t interested in the UFC White House event
Moreno is certainly not alone with his thoughts on fighting at the White House, as a number of American athletes have shared a similar stance.
Brandon Royval made a Hunger Games comparison to explain his lack of interest in fighting in front of global dignitaries and VIPs in Washington D.C. rather than fans.
The polarizing Sean Strickland, meanwhile, cited the same reason and also mentioned the Epstein list as another factor behind his dismissal of the event.
It is clear that fighting in front of thousands of die-hard MMA fans is one of the most important things for a number of fighters. With the White House setup taking that away, the event may not turn out to be as “spectacular” as Dana White is promising — at least not for the fighters.
