Jack Della Maddalena will return to the Octagon to face off with Carlos Prates in May.
Della Maddalena lost the welterweight title to Islam Makhachev in his first title defense back in November.
The Australian was previously undefeated inside the Octagon with eight consecutive wins before his one-sided loss to the Russian at Madison Square Garden.
While Della Maddalena has spoken about wanting a rematch with Makhachev, he needs to get back in the win column first, and he now has a big opportunity to do so.

Jack Della Maddalena vs Carlos Prates official for UFC Perth on May 2
Higor Ciconello has reported via ESPN Brazil that Jack Della Maddalena will face Carlos Prates in his return on May 2.
Following a loss last time out, the former champion’s return will take place on home soil when he faces the Brazilian at a Fight Night in Perth, Australia.
Prates had called out Della Maddalena after scoring a huge knockout win over Leon Edwards on the same night as the last welterweight title fight.
Michael Morales was also targeting ‘JDM’ as an opponent that could cement his status as the next in line for a shot at Islam Makhachev following his big win last November.
Prates has produced back-to-back bonus-winning finishes since his winning streak inside the Octagon was ended by Ian Machado Garry, who many expect to be the Russian’s next challenger, in April of last year.
