Arman Tsarukyan could be edging ever closer to a UFC title fight despite a fragile relationship with the brass.
The 29-year-old lightweight number one contender last fought inside the UFC Octagon last November when he dominated Dan Hooker in the UFC Qatar main event.
The majority of UFC fans were under the belief that ‘Ahalkalakets’ shouldn’t have had to fight Hooker and should’ve been next in line to fight Ilia Topuria regardless.
And now a few months removed from his last appearance under the UFC banner, Arman Tsarukyan has teased that he could finally be set for a title fight in the promotion.
Can Arman Tsarukyan be trusted with a UFC title shot?
Between punching a fan at UFC 300, his Dan Hooker headbutt and now the RAF brawl, is Arman Tsarukyan too much of a loose canon for the UFC title?
Arman Tsarukyan reveals talks for title fight in September or October
Despite the fact that ‘El Matador’ will now have to fight interim champion Justin Gaethje next, Tsarukyan could finally have a date in mind for a potential title clash.
The Armenian recently met with UFC matchmaker Hunter Campbell, and spoke about several different options on the table.
“I already talked to Hunter a couple of weeks ago, we’ve got a couple of options,” Tsarukyan told The Ariel Helwani show.
“Like, title fights, like just (normal) fights, I don’t know, we’ll see how it plays out. Any (title fight). 170lbs, 145lbs, 155lbs. A fight for the 155lb title (is the most appealing option they gave me), in like September or October, after Justin (fights for the title). Yes (we spoke about fighting the winner of Max Holloway vs Charles Oliveira).
“It was a good meeting. We always have good meetings. I’m always good with Hunter. They said keep doing what you’re doing.”
According to recent reports, a title unification fight between Topuria and Gaethje is no longer likely to happen on the UFC White House event, and instead is being targeted for months after.

Tsarukyan says the UFC should be happy about his RAF06 brawl
In an attempt to stay active outside of the promotion, Tsarukyan has been competing in wrestling and grappling competitions.
This past Saturday, he competed on RAF06 against Georgio Poullas, and following his decision win, he and Poullas were involved in a huge post-match brawl.
Initially, fans were worried that his antics outside of the UFC could affect his position in the promotion, however, he has claimed that the UFC should be happy with how he dealt with the situation.
“This was not my fault, everybody is on my side now… They should be happy that a UFC fighter didn’t let anyone beat him. UFC fighter number one went into freestyle wrestling, beat the freestyle wrestler and showed the level of the UFC.”
