Conor McGregor has provided an update on his negotiations with the UFC for his return.

Over the weekend, Jon Jones confirmed that he’s in talks to fight at the White House following the news that Alex Pereira has vacated his light heavyweight title.

‘Bones’ isn’t the only huge name that wants to walk out of the Oval Office on June 14 before stepping back inside the Octagon.

McGregor has recently voiced some frustrations with the UFC and while there are talks happening, they’ve now taken a different path.

Conor McGregor suggests that he’ll return in the summer but not necessarily at the White House

In a recent video, Conor McGregor confirmed that while he’s in negotiations with the UFC, it’s not certain that the White House will be his destination.

A report from Ariel Helwani suggested that McGregor is far more likely to fight on International Fight Week on July 11 due to that being a better chance for the promotion to make money.

Given how much the White House card is going to cost the UFC, having to pay out a huge amount to have ‘The Notorious’ there won’t help.

McGregor himself has now said that while he expects to be back in the summer, the exact date and location aren’t set right now.

“So, I am in negotiations with the Ultimate Fighting Championship about the bout,” he told Drink Litt on Instagram when asked if he’s fighting at the White House. “Either the White House or there or thereabouts. Sometime in the summer, McGregor will return.”

The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion has made it very clear in the past that fighting at the White House was a huge goal of his.

It remains to be seen how a different option being put forward by the promotion will change his comeback plans or affect the negotiations.

When will the UFC announce the White House card?

During Dana White’s announcement of the UFC 327 main event, he provided an update on the White House card.

The UFC CEO closed out his Instagram Live last Friday to say that fans can expect him to announce “the White House fight” this week.

“This week, I should be announcing it,” he said for a second time to give fans some more big fight news to look forward to over the coming days.

White is sure to be in attendance for UFC 326 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where he’ll likely be asked about this if news doesn’t drop before the event’s post-fight press conference.
