UFC Vegas 105 takes major hit as Fight of the Night favorite is cancelled

This weekend’s UFC Fight Night event almost went off without a hitch.

Ranked featherweights take center stage from the UFC Apex as the heavy-handed Josh Emmett battles undefeated Lerone Murphy in the main event of UFC Vegas 105 on Saturday.

The Apex card initially had 13 fights scheduled, that number dwindling down to 12 following some drama at the official weigh-ins.

On Friday, 26 fighters were supposed to tip the scales… however, only 25 showed up.

Davey Grant vs. Daniel Santos scrapped from UFC Vegas 105

UFC fan-favorite Davey Grant was scheduled to face Brazil’s Daniel Santos in an exciting bantamweight bout on Saturday. Grant made weight on Friday at 135.5lbs.

Santos, on the other hand, didn’t weigh in with a UFC official confirming he was out of the the fight due to medical issues.

This marks the 5th time Santos has had to withdraw from a UFC fight. The Brazilian pulled out of previous fights against Daniel Marcos and Said Nurmagomedov last Fall.

Santos is 2-1 in the UFC. His opponent Davey Grant has 13 fights total in the UFC, five of which the Brit earned a performance bonus in.

UFC newcomer missed weight on undercard

UFC Vegas 105 will go on with 12 fights in total.

One fight was in jeopardy earlier today as Dana White’s Contender Series Alumni Cortavious Romious missed the bantamweight limit by 3.5lbs, weighing in at 139.5lbs.

His opponent ChangHo Lee made weight at 136lbs.

Lee would accept the fight despite his opponent missing weight with Romious forfeiting 20% of his purse as a result.

Cortavious Romious dropped his promotional debut to Gaston Bolanos last November by decision.
