Lightweights Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady and Matheus Camilo are no longer scheduled to meet at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
The fight was scrapped just two days ahead of the event after Al-Selwady was forced off the card at the last minute. Camilo is not expected to get a new opponent.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Thursday after an initial report from Eurosport.
After news broke that the fight was cancelled, Al-Selwady issued a statement on Instagram confirming his withdrawal from the event, although he didn’t offer any insights into what exactly happened.
“It’s written and I will not question it,” Al-Selwady wrote. “All I know is I was fully prepared, best camp of my career, on weight and ready to go, it couldn’t have gone any better and Allah didn’t have it planned for me.
“Inshallah it will all be cleared soon, do not ask me because I myself don’t know.”
Al-Selwady was seeking his first win in the UFC after suffering a loss in his debut following an appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series. The same goes for Camilo, who lost in his first fight with the UFC, before being booked on Saturday.
Now both have to wait until a later date to compete again.
With Al-Selwady and Camilo pulled from the card, UFC 321 moves forward with 13 total fights with the prelims currently scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday followed by the main card at 2 p.m. ET.
