Ricky Simon is going home with a loss on his record and a new scar as a bonus.
The veteran bantamweight dropped a hard-fought decision to Raoni Barcelos at UFC Vegas 111 on Saturday and required some serious stitchwork after the fight was over.
UFC CEO Dana White showed the gruesome aftermath with photos posted on Instagram that showed the before and after of Simon’s chin after it took the worst of the damage.
It’s not clear when the cut happened, but Simon and Barcelos were definitely trading bombs throughout the fight in a back-and-forth brawl across all three rounds.
In the end, Barcelos did more damage and produced better offense as the Brazilian notched his fourth consecutive win in a row, which also includes a victory over highly touted prospect Payton Talbott back in January.
As for Simon, he falls to 2-4 in his past six outings but he had won his past two in a row before dropping the decision to Barcelos on Saturday.
