Arman Tsarukyan is wondering what else he has to do to get his UFC championship shot.
The top lightweight contender recently returned to action at UFC Qatar, we’re he ran through Dan Hooker in the main event en route to a second-round submission. It was Tsarukyan’s fifth straight win, his 10th in his past 11 fights, and more than enough for him to hold on to his No. 1 spot in the UFC’s official contender rankings.
In response, Tsarukyan posted a brief and bewildered message on social media:
“Make it make sense,” Tsarukyan wrote, adding a facepalm emoji.
Tsarukyan has reason to be upset given his consistent in-cage success; however, he might still be out of favor with the matchmakers. White pulled no punches this past January when Tsarukyan suffered a back injury that forced him to withdraw from a UFC 311 main event title fight with Islam Makhachev just two days before the event, and Tsarukyan drew more negative headlines when he senselessly head butted Hooker during their faceoff ahead of UFC Qatar.
It is unclear what the plan is now for Tsarukyan, who likely has to wait and see what unfolds with Gaethje, Pimblett, and Topuria next year.
