The Bo Nickal vs. Yoel Romero wrestling match will have to wait.
Real American Freestyle announced on Friday that Nickal will no longer compete at RAF 4 for undisclosed reasons, and Romero now faces Pat Downey on the wrestling card. The event takes place Dec. 20 at Fishers Event Center in Fishers, Ind., and streams on Fox Nation.
Romero has won four consecutive combat sports bouts in a few different promotions and disciplines. “Soldier of God” began his current run with a decision win over Thiago Santos at PFL vs. Bellator in February 2024, then added a pair of stoppage victories over Duane Crespo and Ras Hylton for Dirty Boxing. Romero most recently knocked out Theo Doukas at BKFC 80 in September.
Downey, a 2016 D-1 All-American wrestler, returns to the RAF mats for the third straight event. In his most recent contest, the two-time Bellator competitor dominated UFC welterweight Joaquin Buckley for a tech fall victory at RAF 3 in November.
