Jack Doherty defends role in Andrei Arlovski brawl: ‘That guy started the whole thing’

Jack Doherty is claiming innocence following physical altercation with UFC legend.

Andrei Arlovski unexpectedly made headlines this past weekend when he became embroiled in a brawl with Doherty and his associates in the halls of Kaseya Center in Miami during Saturday’s Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul boxing event. According to Arlovski, Doherty was the instigator, possibly looking to generate content for his social media platforms, and he claimed Doherty’s crew threatened “me, my wife, my kid” and a “friend.”

On Sunday, Doherty shared his side of the story, putting all of the blame on Arlovski.

“Everyone’s talking about that Andrei whatever UFC fight that we had at the Jake Paul fight,” Doherty said. “I did not start that, and I don’t know why everyone’s putting the blame on me. ‘Oh, you’re heading behind your security guard.’ Duh. This man walks by me, bumps into my cameraman and throws a kick at us for no reason and then my friend stepped in and then everything else happened. Bro, I’m not trying to fight this guy. I’m not trying to instigate a fight, I’m trying to stay out of trouble. I’m on bond right now, you think we’re trying to start fights, hell nah.

“That guy started the whole thing, you can see it, it’s all on video, so I don’t know why everyone’s trying to blame it on me. I was literally just walking by and this guy goes boom and then a little karate kick… you can see I did nothing to start the fight.”

The footage appears to show Doherty and Arlovski briefly bumping shoulders, though it’s unclear if Arlovski responded with a “karate kick” as Doherty claims. One of Doherty’s associates is seen throwing a punch at Arlovski, which further escalated the situation.

Doherty’s reputation as an instigator is well-known and a considerable part of his online persona, which has garnered him millions of followers across various social media platforms. He was recently arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, for possession of amphetamine and marijuana, and resisting an officer without violence, among other charges. The 22-year-old was arrested after police claim he was blocking traffic and refusing to move his vehicle.

It’s because of this recent run-in with the law that Doherty insists he had nothing to do with starting the Jake vs. Joshua backstage brawl.

“All I tried to do was deescalate the fight and get everyone to stop fricking fighting because I’m like, yo, we can’t be fighting, I’ve got to stay out of trouble,” Doherty said.
