‘Ronda?’: Pros suggest new opponents for Amanda Nunes at UFC 324 after Kayla Harrison withdrawal

January 14, 2026

Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes has to wait.

UFC 324 took a major hit Wednesday when it was reported that the bantamweight champion is undergoing neck surgery that forced her to withdraw from the Jan. 24 card. There is no timetable yet for Harrison’s return, so it’s unclear when the bout with Nunes, a former two-division champion poised to come back from a two-retirement, could be rescheduled.

Though the matchup appears to be postponed and not officially cancelled, there was no shortage of suggestions from fighters on social media as to how to potentially keep Nunes on the card.

Veteran flyweight Tim Elliott—possibly in jest—wondered if retired legend Ronda Rousey would consider coming out of retirement for a rematch with Nunes. “The Lioness” scored a memorable knockout of Rousey in 2016, which marked the final fight of Rousey’s career.

Top bantamweight contender Norma Dumont is also throwing her name in the proverbial ring, suggesting she can be ready to fight Nunes on 10 days’ notice.
