Dana White is front and center ahead of the premiere of Zuffa Boxing.
On Friday, White and the UFC released a promo for the boxing promotion’s first event, which takes place at the APEX in Las Vegas on Jan. 23.
The video follows a figure—later revealed to be White—as he marches through an arena towards a boxing ring, with a dramatic voice-over going over the glorious history of boxing and lamenting its supposed decline. Boxing is described as having “lost its aura” and apparently, there’s only one man that can save the sport.
Asking why boxing has been—as the narrator claims—“pushed to the margins,” we are then told its “maybe because there’s never been an architect, a visionary, whose been able to harness its power and present it the way it should be presented.
“Is there someone who can take up the mantle for the greatest sport in human history? There’s only one way to find out.”
