Valenzuela, 14-3 (9 KOs), is a former junior welterweight titleholder who upset Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz for the WBA belt in August 2024 but lost it in his first defense, a wide defeat to Gary Antuanne Russell last March. This is the first fight back for Valenzuela, a 26-year-old from Mexico living in Washington state, and he’s returning to lightweight for this bout. He is ranked eighth at 135lbs by the WBA.
