The bout was a gruelling affair, close too, with both fighters having it all to prove as the last session began. As both threw punches, Ball was wide open for a left hand that clattered into the jaw of Ball and sent him face down. Ball instinctively found his feet but he was soon bundled through the ropes and referee Steve Gray rescued the favorite with only 32 seconds of the 12th round gone.
