Caio Borralho was taken aback with excitement after hearing about rumors of a potential fight between Carlos Prates and Conor McGregor.
Former UFC double champion Conor McGregor has been calling for his return to the Octagon to come on the UFC White House card this June.
Although things seemed as though they were trending in a positive direction after McGregor revealed he accepted a fight against a no-name opponent, things have yet to progress.
With that, the Irishman aired his frustration with the promotion earlier this week, before news rumors began to circulate regarding his potential opponent for his return.
After McGregor shared an image of the welterweight rankings on his social media, fans put two and two together that Carlos Prates could be the ‘no-name’ referred to.
CHANGE MY MIND: Conor McGregor is the UFC’s greatest legend
‘Notorious’ took MMA to the next level at the height of his legendary career.
Caio Borralho excited by rumors of his teammate potentially fighting McGregor
‘The Nightmare’ is currently ranked number five at 170lbs, but he is yet to establish his name amongst the more casual fanbase.
However, his team ‘The Fighting Nerds’ have gained a lot of popularity over the past few years for their marketable personalities.
And Prates’ teammate, Caio Borralho, has shared his reaction to hearing the rumors of his teammate potentially fighting ‘The Notorious’.
“Bro, to be honest with you, I didn’t have a clue about any of this, I saw the poster today and right away I sent a message to Carlos, but he didn’t respond yet,” Borralho told MMAJunkie.
“I said, ‘What the f— you’re gonna fight McGregor, brother? Bro, if this is true and you didn’t tell me, I’m gonna f—— kill you!’
“I’m in the same spot as you guys, I don’t know if this fight is true and they will fight, (but if it is) it’s gonna be a freaking good fight, brother. So I’m waiting on that, let’s see.”
If the fight does, in fact, come to fruition, Borralho believes that his teammate has what it takes to beat the Irishman.
“I don’t think it’s a good fight for McGregor because they’re both southpaws, Carlos will kick him a lot in the calf and he’s got bigger knockout power, I don’t think it’s a good fight for him.”

Prates understands it would be difficult to make the fight
Despite the fact that fans are extremely excited for the prospect of a fight between Prates and McGregor, ‘The Nightmare’ understands that it’s unlikely that McGregor would say yes to fight him.
Prates claimed that after five years out of action, McGregor won’t come back and ‘beg’ for a fight against the most entertaining welterweight, and will likely instead fight in a more favorable matchup.
