Arman Tsarukyan and Georgio Poullas’ feud will rage on as their March 11 grappling match appears to be cancelled.
The top UFC lightweight contender caused a brawl after winning his match with Poullas at RAF06 on Saturday night. Within days, the pair had agreed to a rematch under the Hype FC banner – this time in submission grappling.
Can Arman Tsarukyan be trusted with a UFC title shot?
Between punching a fan at UFC 300, his Dan Hooker headbutt and now the RAF brawl, is Arman Tsarukyan too much of a loose canon for the UFC title?
Poullas claimed that regardless of the result of the grappling match he was pushing for another wrestling bout between the pair during an appearance on Uncrowned’s Ariel Helwani Show. But RAF bosses now claim that the rematch is cancelled
Arman Tsarukyan vs Georgio Poullas rematch cancelled
During his interview with Helwani, Georgio Poullas claimed that a contract was yet to be signed for a March 11 grappling match with Arman Tsarukyan on Hype FC. However, he was setting the stipulation that the pair must meet again under the RAF Wrestling banner.
Now, Helwani says that RAF Wrestling co-founder Chad Bronstein has told him that the rematch is off. Instead, Poullas will push for a second wrestling match with Tsarukyan after their razor-close first match ended 5-3 for the UFC star.
Georgio Poullas wanted trilogy regardless of the grappling match
Speaking with Helwani, Poullas said: “Of course he doesn’t want to wrestle me again, because he knows he’s going to lose. He felt my pressure. The only reason he won was because of the penalty points.
“But guess what? I’m supposed to go to Brazil to grapple him now. And you know why I’m doing that? So that he agrees to the [wrestling] rematch.”
Poullas seemed to understand that he has a limited chance of winning a submission grappling match, which is why he has put it in the contract that Tsarukyan must wrestle him again on a future RAF show. “So what?” Poullas continued. “he wants to choke me out? He wants to squeeze me?
“Good s—, bro. You can choke me out. You can squeeze me tight. I don’t care. The only reason I’m doing that is to get my get-back in this wrestling match.”
