Arman Tsarukyan and Georgio Poullas are running it back.
Just days after their wrestling match at RAF 6 ended with a punch being thrown and a wild brawl erupting in the arena, Tsarukyan and Poullas are scheduled to meet again—this time in a submission-only grappling match at a Hype FC event in Brazil on March 11.
The promotion announced the matchup Tuesday after Tsarukyan was already scheduled for the card while awaiting word on an opponent.
The wrestling match between Tsarukyan and Poullas was scheduled as the co-main event at RAF 6 in Arizona with the athletes apparently agreeing to a $10,000 bet before clashing on the mats.
Things got ugly in a hurry with lots of hand fighting and some slaps to the head, which led to multiple warnings from the referee but neither one was disqualified. After the end of the second period, Tsarukyan got so heated that he actually took a backhanded swipe at Poullas but didn’t connect before they returned to their respective corners.
Late points scored by Tsarukyan helped him secure the win but as soon as the match ended, he tackled Poullas and started throwing punches. That led to a massive melee breaking out on stage as members from both teams stormed the mats and RAF officials along with security tried to get the situation under control.
Afterwards, Poullas called Tsarukyan “a little bitch” for the altercation and Tsarukyan fired back on Monday saying “this is not my fault” and blaming Poullas for taking multiple swipes at him during the wrestling match, which then led to the fight.
Now Tsarukyan and Poullas are scheduled to meet again, this time under submission-only grappling rules as part of the Hype card scheduled for March 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event also features Jorge Masvidal facing Shara Bullet in a submission-only grappling match, as well as UFC featherweight contender Jean Silva, who awaits an opponent for a bout under the same rule set.
