Colby Covington isn’t disheartened by Dana White’s post about a false claim for his next fight.
New reports suggest that Conor McGregor might not be a part of the UFC White House card despite this event being his clear target for a return.
As one of the top American names on the roster, Covington is also hoping that the next time he makes the walk, it’ll be from the Oval Office.
The new partner and investor in Real American Beer isn’t ready to rule out the chances of him carrying the stars and stripes to the cage to face off with ‘The Notorious’ despite Dana White’s comments.

Colby Covington believes a Conor McGregor fight is still possible despite Dana White’s comment
In February, Dana White shut down a false report that claimed Colby Covington would be facing Conor McGregor in the main event of the UFC White House card.
The UFC president wrote that at that time, they hadn’t even started putting the card together, but his dismissal of this post isn’t enough for ‘Chaos’.
He recently told Bloody Elbow that he believes White choosing to address this in the first place is a positive sign rather than a dead end.
“I did see those rumors and the fact that he had to go comment on it that it’s not going to happen just shows that maybe it could happen,” he said. I think it’s a possibility. Conor showed a lot of love to me when we were at the inauguration in DC when Trump got elected. We have a good relationship and I know a couple of his managers. They like the fight.”
The former interim welterweight champion is right in saying that the fight would likely generate a lot of attention through the press conference alone.
However, Covington has also admitted that he might not fight McGregor because both the Irishman and the promotion may have other plans.
“Conor McGregor vs Colby Covington,” he continued. “I think it makes a lot of sense, it sells a lot to the fans, but ultimately it’s up to the company. We can’t decide what the company wants to do and the direction they want to go with their business.”

Colby Covington shares what he and Conor McGregor spoke about last January
After Colby Covington spoke about getting to speak with Conor McGregor at Donald Trump’s inauguration in 2025, he elaborated on what this interaction was like.
You may expect both men to clash given their larger than life personalities but it was more than just their support of the president that saw them be on the same page.
“He’s a great guy. He’s one of the greatest to ever do it. He’s the biggest name that the UFC has ever had. There was a lot of mutual respect. He showed me a lot of respect, he said the welterweight title fights I put on with [Kamaru] Usman were some of his favorite fights and then we just talked about how we can save our countries.”
