Conor McGregor wants to make the biggest splash possible in 2026.
Last year, President Donald Trump and UFC CEO Dana White announced that, in celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary, the UFC would host an event on the White House lawn. The event figures to be one of the biggest spectacles in UFC history, and it immediately drew interest from most of the biggest names in MMA, all wanting to compete on the card. That includes former two-division champion Conor McGregor, who called for him and Michael Chandler to finally settle their business, but now, ‘Notorious’ has a new dance partner in mind.
On Tuesday, McGregor suggested that he and one-time opponent Floyd Mayweather rematch on the White House lawn, but do so in MMA.
“Fun times, Dana White, UFC.
“Floyd Mayweather Jr., when you are ready for that promised MMA bout, I am here. The White House is nice in the summer I heard.
“Just kidding Mike! Although… I could fight both the same night.
“Floyd MMA? EASY. 10 seconds.”
In 2017, McGregor and Mayweather faced off in one of the biggest boxing events of all time, dubbed “The Money Fight,” with Mayweather stopping McGregor in the 10th round. In the lead-up to the fight, there was some talk about a possible second fight taking place in the UFC, though that never came to anything.
McGregor has not competed since snapping his leg against Dustin Poirier in their trilogy bout at UFC 264 in 2021. He was scheduled to return to action against Michael Chandler last summer, but withdrew due to injury.
Mayweather, meanwhile, retired from professional boxing after beating McGregor, but has taken several exhibition bouts. He’s currently planning to have another one, this time against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, sometime this spring.
