Ex-UFC champ Benson Henderson ends MMA retirement, headlines PFL Brussels event

March 2, 2026

Benson Henderson is returning to the cage.

Three years after closing the book on his mixed martial arts fighting career, Henderson returns with PFL and is set to face Patrick Habirora in the main event of PFL Brussels. The card takes place May 23. The fight was first announced by Habirora on the Ariel Helwani Show.

Henderson called it a career following a stoppage loss to Usman Nurmagomedov at Bellator 292 in March 2023. Since then, the former UFC champ has competed in Karate Combat, for Misfits Boxing, as well as the grappling world. This past weekend, “Smooth” was defeated by Aljamain Sterling via tech fall at RAF 6.

Habirora gets his toughest test to date as he looks to improve to 9-0 as a pro. In his past two bouts, the 24-year-old stopped UFC veterans Danny Roberts and Kevin Jousset. “The Belgian Bomber” is 4-0 inside the PFL SmartCage.
