Zoltan Bathory picked someone outside of his fellow musicians when highlighting one individual.

Joe Rogan believes that jiu-jitsu makes people better because of the character you need in order to dedicate yourself to it.

It’s not surprising that this endless pursuit of perfection would attract people who are already successful in other areas, with Tom Hardy even being offered a match with UFC star Arman Tsarukyan earlier this year.

Five Finger Death Punch founder and guitarist Zoltan Bathory has taken his love of the martial art even further as the co-owner of the Professional Grappling Federation.

Zoltan Bathory highlights actor Sean Patrick Flanery as a highly-skilled jiu-jitsu competitor

Zoltan Bathory has come across some fellow famous faces that also excel on the mats during his training as a BJJ and judo black belt.

The lifelong martial artist recently previewed the Professional Grappling Federation’s upcoming Season 9, which kicks off on March 4 and pits four franchises against one another, in an interview with Bloody Elbow.

Ahead of another big move for his grappling promotion, one name sprung to mind when he was asked to name the best celebrity grappler he’s encountered over the years.

“From the world of entertainment, I would say, ‘The Boondock Saint’ himself, right? He’s a serious guy” Bathory responded. “I’ve never trained with him but I’m trying to put together that one.”

The actor he’s referring to is one of the stars of the 1999 movie ‘The Boondock Saints’ and its sequel, Sean Patrick Flanery.

Flanery is a 4th degree black belt who also teaches and once said that he may have pursued mixed martial arts instead of acting if it had come into his life at an earlier stage.

Bathory, who trains with Five Finger Death Punch’s security while they’re on tour, also mentioned several names from other bands that he knows are serious operators.

“There’s a lot of guys who are not even known who are highly skilled jiu-jitsu guys. Like Rikki Rockett is a third-degree black belt, he drums for Poison. You would never know. Harley (Flanagan) from Cro-Mags, he’s a third-degree black belt under Renzo (Gracie). So, there are high-level guys in the game that you would know. Billy (Graziadei) from Biohazard is a black belt as well.”

PGF’s Season 9 will stream live on YouTube and Kick from March 4th.
