It’s safe to say Arman Tsarukyan and Georgio Poullas are still feuding after their wrestling match turned into a wild brawl at RAF 6 on Saturday.
The melee broke out after Tsarukyan secured a victory but he then tackled Poullas to the ground and started throwing punches, which led to members from both teams pouring onto the mats with fights breaking out everywhere. It took security several minutes to calm things down as Tsarukyan and Poullas were effectively dragged backstage while the brawl continued to spiral out of control.
The situation escalated in a hurry after both Tsarukyan and Poullas complained by slaps to the head during the match and a shove that forced the referee to intervene. When time ticked away to end the match that’s when Tsarukyan decided it was time to settle things by throwing punches at Poullas as both fighters were on the ground.
“Unfortunately, I was jumped,” Poullas said about the altercation while being transported to a local hospital for treatment. “But as you guys saw my 62-year-old dad and both my brothers came to my rescue. That’s the way we were brought up. To fight for each other no matter what. We were outnumbered by like 12 Armenians and they came out running, fighting with me, fighting for me. So that’s f*cking love. That’s how we were raised.
“To Arman, you’re a little bitch and by the way if you guys watched the match, I’m the only one that got a takedown. He got a push out and a couple penalty points. I’m still the champ, baby.”
Poullas, whose claim to fame was an internet challenge where he offered any competitor a $1,000 reward for taking him down, offered that same money to Tsarukyan as they shared more than a few heated words leading up to the match. The friction only ratcheted up as they both took swipes at each other including Tsarukyan actually trying for a backhanded slap after the second period ended.
He missed with that shot but certainly didn’t miss with his punches after transforming from RAF wrestler to UFC lightweight contender in a split second.
For his part, Tsarukyan didn’t address the melee backstage at RAF but instead took to social media to offer his response.
“F*ck around and find out,” Tsarukyan said.
Ranked and rated as the top contender in the UFC lightweight division, Tsarukyan’s bad temper has already landed him in hot water before after he head butted Dan Hooker during a faceoff ahead of their fight in Qatar this past November. As a result, Hooker actually suffered a broken nose before Tsarukyan ultimately submitted him in the second round in their fight.
