‘Is he smoking drugs?’: Max Holloway reacts to ‘concussed’ Jean Silva’s callout for UFC White House event

October 20, 2025

Max Holloway responds to Jean Silva’s callout, and the current BMF champion didn’t mince words.

Earlier this month, Silva said it would be a dream to face Holloway for the BMF title at the UFC White House card in June. Holloway is coming off of a decision win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 318 in July, but Silva was stopped by Diego Lopes in the main event of Noche UFC in September.

During a Kick stream, Holloway was asked by a fan what he thought of Silva’s tweet, and “Blessed” was stunned by the idea following Silva’s most recent bout.

“Is he smoking drugs? Holy f*ck,” Holloway said on Kick. “Did he not see what Diego Lopes just did to him? This guy’s got to be trolling us, bro. … That motherf*cker’s still concussed, bro.

“Whatever he’s saying, we’re not going to take it serious. Dude, stay concussed, bro.”

A few days after Silva’s comments, Charles Oliveira laid down the gauntlet to Holloway to compete in a rematch for the BMF title following his second-round submission of Mateusz Gamrot in the main event of UFC Rio. Their first meeting ended in unfortunate and abrupt circumstances in the main event of a UFC Fight Night event in Saskatoon, Canada. The fight ended in 99 seconds after Oliveira suffered a strange injury that left him unable to continue less than two minutes.

The current title holder was certainly into the idea of running it back, and is hopeful to return to action in March — not sitting on the sidelines until the UFC’s historic card in June.

“The White House card is just so far away,” Holloway said following UFC Rio. “It’s like a year, boys. I don’t know if I want to wait that long but we’ll see what happens.

“Never say never. It’s so far away. If we take that fight, it’s almost going to be a year I’m out of competition if the fight happens on the White House card.”
