Joe Rogan tried to figure out what triggered Charles Oliveira’s transformation four years ago.

Joe Rogan: Becoming a father changed Charles Oliveira
Charles Oliveira won 11 consecutive UFC fights between June 2018 and May 2022.
During that time, the 34-year-old thrived in moments where he’d previously looked out of his depth.
Joe Rogan believes Oliveira’s dramatic transformation was triggered by the birth of his first child in April 2017.
“The thing about Oliveira is that everybody looks at Oliveira at his lowest points,” he said on the JRE MMA Show in September 2022.
“Cub Swanson knocked him out. Paul Felder smashed him. All these people beat him.
Something happened when that dude had a kid. And there is a fire inside of them like the center of the sun. I don’t know what it is, man, but he’s a different human. He goes right into the line of fire. He’s not taking any shortcuts, it’s all risk.
“And he’s 100 percent confident, it doesn’t matter how hard you hit him, he’s gonna be fine.”

Charles Oliveira will fight for the BMF belt at UFC 326
Charles Oliveira has suffered three setbacks since Joe Rogan marveled at his evolution.
Despite losing against Islam Makhachev, Arman Tsarukyan, and Ilia Topuria, the Brazilian is still held in extremely high regard by MMA fans.
Oliveira is set to face Max Holloway for the BMF title at UFC 326 in Miami, Florida, on Saturday night.
Winning the symbolic belt will be the perfect way to top off his transformation from a ‘quitter’ to the baddest motherf—er in the game.
