Mike Perry wasn’t fighting at BKFC KnuckleMania VI this past weekend but that doesn’t mean he didn’t throw some punches after a wild brawl erupted in the crowd.
New video emerged on Tuesday showing a melee breaking out in the crowd in Philadelphia involving Perry and former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez along with members of family. In the video, Perry is engaged in some sort of verbal altercation with several people in the crowd and Alvarez appears to be standing next to him.
A moment later, another person comes into the frame and shoves Perry, who falls backwards and then lunges at them before it looks like he falls to the floor with several people punching and kicking him.
Security rushes into break up the melee as the attack on Perry continued. The brawl kept moving through the crowd until a police officer eventually gets involved, dragging one of the people involved away from the melee.
When the initial footage surfaced, Perry took to Twitter to address the situation.
“They welcomed me to Philly as one of their own, and that floor was slippery as heck and his wife fell on her face, and I laughed at her,” Perry wrote on Twitter. “Looks like I was just down underneath everybody slipping for the first minute. Told ya’ll, eventful.”
After the new video surfaced, Alvarez dropped a message on Instagram to respond to the situation after it appeared that Perry was attacked by multiple people while he was alone in the crowd.
“There’s way more to this story than you all know,” Alvarez wrote. “This was my wife, kids and family fighting here with me. You all know the person I am and I’m not sorry for this. It was deserved and asked for.
“Ask Mike and he will agree. I’m glad Mike’s OK and nobody got hurt. You can’t f*ck with someone’s family and expect shit to be cordial. If you knew the story, you would understand.”
UFC welterweight Phil Rowe commented on the video taking aim at Alvarez for the altercation.
“Eddie Alvarez, this is super lame,” Rowe wrote on Instagram. “Mike’s by himself …you’re in Philly with your people.”
BKFC hasn’t directly addressed the altercation and there’s no word if any arrests were made as a result of the brawl that broke out during the event.
