‘Stop the cap’… Fans slam GFL for teasing 2026 revival after disastrous failed launch

Global Fight League [GFL] will officially launch in 2026, according to the promotion’s latest statement.

The new MMA promotion snapped up a ton of talent with the promise of two shows in May.

GFL‘s future has been up in the air since those events were cancelled due to a lack of investment.

After several months of silence, the potential UFC rival has posted a positive update about its future.

GFL confirms first fight

On Sunday, GFL got the attention of MMA fans by suggesting the promotion will finally launch in 2026.

“To the athletes, fans, and partners, thank you for your patience and support,” GFL tweeted.

“We’ve been hard at work and look forward to sharing what’s next.

“Stay tuned, more to come on our plans for 2026. #TogetherWeFight.”

MMA fans react to GFL news

It’s fair to say MMA fans didn’t take the news of GFL’s potential revival very seriously.

“Twitter needs a laugh button for posts like this! I’ll believe it when I see it,” one fan said. While another added: “Man, gtfo we rocking with Misfits MMA now.”

“They probably already signed Wanderlei [Silva] from the hospital bed,” someone else joked.

“Where can we place bets that this never happens. There’s gotta be odds. I can make huge bank,” another X user commented.

“We’re not falling for this again,” someone else tweeted.

“Stop the cap, you guys are broke,” a sixth fan replied.
