Suspended Mohammed Usman removed from UFC roster, 1 other fighter also released

February 12, 2026

Mohammed Usman has been removed from the UFC roster after he was recently suspended for over two years due to a failed drug test.

Welterweight Adam Fugitt was also removed from the roster on Thursday. UFC officials confirmed the news to MMA Fighting following an initial report from Tom Feely.

Usman, a former Ultimate Fighter winner and brother to ex-UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, went 4-2 during his run with the promotion after competing on the long running reality show. But the news dropped in January that Usman had been suspended for 30 months after testing positive for testosterone under the UFC’s anti-doping policy.

Combat Sports Anti-Doping officials stated at the time that Usman admitted his testosterone use along with the peptide BPC-157, which is also banned at all times for athletes, and that actually led to his removal from a fight he had scheduled this past October.

“While Usman ultimately took responsibility for the above details, he did not do so in a timely fashion and not until CSAD confronted him with evidence they had independently collected during a detailed investigation of his use of these multiple prohibited substances as well as his attempt to deceive CSAD with a false explanation,” CSAD officials wrote when announcing his suspension. “Under the UFC ADP, if a UFC athlete uses multiple substances like Usman did and engages in deceptive or obstructive conduct to avoid the adjudication of an Anti-Doping Policy Violation like he did, then aggravating circumstances are determined to exist.

“While aggravating circumstances can double a standard suspension, because Usman ultimately admitted to the prohibited behavior, CSAD determined that a six-month addition to the standard 2-year suspension for using these substances was appropriate for these aggravating factors.”

Usman isn’t eligible to compete again until after April 9, 2028 but it appears he’ll have to fight elsewhere after being removed from the UFC roster.

As for Fugitt, he went 2-4 during his six fight run with the UFC, which included losses to Michael Morales Mike Malott and Islam Dulatov. Most recently, Fugitt suffered a standing knockout loss to Ty Miller at UFC 324 — his second loss in a row overall — and now he’s been removed from the roster.

Like all fighters removed from the roster, the UFC could potentially bring anybody back under a new contract but at this time both Usman and Fugitt are considered free agents.
