‘The best Brazilian fighter to ever exist’: Pros react to Alex Pereira’s quick UFC 320 knockout

October 5, 2025

Alex Pereira is now a two-time light heavyweight champion. He has won belts in two divisions, with three UFC titles in total as well as three successful title defenses. He has a highlight reel that rivals that of anyone in MMA history.

But is he Brazil’s GOAT?

That’s Renato Moicano’s take on the situation as he tweeted that “Poatan” is “The best Brazilian fighter to ever exist” following Pereira’s main event knockout of Magomed Ankalaev. Pereira needed just 80 seconds to walk Ankalaev down and score a stunning punch that dropped the defending champion to the canvas. He followed with terrifying punches and elbows until the bout was waved off and he had officially avenged his UFC 313 loss to Ankalaev.

Pereira now holds wins over Ankalaev, Jiri Prochazka, Jan Blachowicz, Jamahal Hill, and Sean Strickland, all fighters who have held UFC gold. His résumé stands among the greats and one could argue he’s done enough to surpass the accomplishments of other legendary fighters from his country like Anderson Silva, Jose Aldo, Amanda Nunes, Cris Cyborg, and numerous others.
