Urijah Faber thinks it’s obvious who should welcome Conor McGregor back to MMA.
The former dual-weight champion hasn’t fought since breaking his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021.
Conor McGregor has announced his intention to return at the UFC White House event on June 14.
‘Notorious’ is currently without an opponent as he prepares for his first fight in five years.
Who had the bigger impact on the UFC? 🤔
Urijah Faber picks Conor McGregor’s comeback opponent
Urijah Faber and Conor McGregor struck up a friendship while coaching opposite each other on The Ultimate Fighter 22 in 2015.
‘The California Kid’ recently sent McGregor an AI training dummy to roll with during his comeback camp.
Now, Faber has named the opponent his Irish pal should fight in his return to the Octagon this summer.
“Nate Diaz. That’s a trilogy that needs to happen,” the UFC Hall of Famer told Bloody Elbow.
Nate is an amazing figure. I mean, there is no fight bigger than that for Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
Both guys deserve to be recognized. Two of the most charismatic, entertaining guys in the sport.
“That’s the fight to make, in my opinion.”

Does Nate Diaz want to fight in the UFC again?
Nate Diaz ended his 15-year run in MMA’s premier promotion at UFC 279 in September 2022.
The fan favorite choked out Tony Ferguson before announcing his move to the world of boxing.
Since then, the 40-year-old has gone 1-1 in the ring against Jake Paul and his UFC rival, Jorge Masvidal.
Diaz is hoping to return to the UFC in 2026, provided a fight with McGregor or someone else on his list of potential opponents can be made.
“I would like to fight somebody,” he said earlier this month. “I’m ready to get back into real action.
“I want to fight either McGregor. I want to fight maybe Dustin Poirier if he stops being such a p—- and then maybe Mike Perry, we’ll see what happens in the future, though.”
McGregor vs Diaz 3 seems like a no-brainer, but only time will tell if we’ll ever see that fight.
