Brendan Allen halted the momentum of Reinier de Ridder in the main event of UFC Vancouver.
After a great first round for de Ridder on Saturday night, Allen took over following a massive mistake from de Ridder in Round 2 where he tried to get a second hook in on the ground. “All-In” reversed position and dominated the next three rounds until de Ridder couldn’t answer the bell for Round 5. Allen picked up his second straight victory, this time getting a TKO win.
Following the fourth round, de Ridder could barely get back to his feet and slowly made it back to the stool. The former ONE Championship two-division titleholder looked in rough shape, and that led to the fight being waved off before the 60 second break between rounds came to an end. Referee Jason Herzog told the broadcast team that de Ridder’s corner called it.
Following the win, middleweight champ Khamzat Chimaev, and many other UFC pros reacted to the fight.
