Tom Aspinall promises revenge on ‘big cheater’ Ciryl Gane, reveals paperwork confirming serious eye injury

Tom Aspinall is ready to get back in the octagon with Ciryl Gane, but he has to wait until his eye injury heals for doctor’s clearance.

The current UFC heavyweight champion faced Gane in the main event of UFC 321 in October. After Gane delivered an accidental eye poke to Aspinall, the bout was stopped and ruled a no-contest. Since then, Aspinall has dealt with some heat from the fan base, and in an Instagram post on Sunday, Aspinall sent a message to everyone, including the fans and Gane, but that’s not all.

“Thanks for all the love, support & memes,🖕the hate. Coming to get my revenge on the big cheater,” Aspinall wrote.

Aspinall also shared a timeline of his medical history in regards to the eye injury — which states that the heavyweight title holder suffered “significant bilateral ocular trauma regarding ongoing consultant-led management.” The report also says Aspinall’s injuries show signs consistent with Brown’s syndrome, which is an issue with the muscle or tendon that controls your eyes’ movements, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

The paperwork closes out by stating that Aspinall is not yet medically cleared for combat activity.

Aspinall was promoted to the undisputed heavyweight champion after a nearly two year run as interim champion following the short-lived retirement of Jon Jones.
