Tony Ferguson’s career renaissance continues.
On Saturday, Ferguson took on Warren Spencer for the vacant Misfits middleweight title in the co-main event of Misfits Mania at Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Dubai, UAE. It was Ferguson’s second fight under the Misfits banner after winning his debut over Salt Papi in August, and “El Cucuy” made it 2-0 since leaving the UFC, winning a five-round unanimous decision.
Despite being 41 years old, Ferguson looked like his vintage self in the ring, putting Spencer under immediate pressure. Spencer struggled to find clean shots on Ferguson early, and then nearly got stopped in the second round as Ferguson unloaded big shots, dropping him. But Spencer battled back and the match turned into a dogfight, with Spencer hurting Ferguson in the fourth round, and Ferguson nearly knocking Spencer out in the final seconds of the bout.
In the end, Ferguson won a clear unanimous decision to take the vacant Misfits title, and establish his first winning streak since 2019.
