Azamat Murzakanov is a problem.

The undefeated Russian picked up the biggest win of his career at UFC 321 on Saturday after he demolished Aleksandar Rakic with a single punch to move his record to 16-0 and 6-0 inside the octagon.

After absorbing some kicks early including a couple of nasty shots to the body, Murzakanov stepped into the pocket to deliver a perfectly timed right hand that blasted Rakic and sent him crumbling to the canvas. Murzakanov landed one more punch for good measure as referee Rich Mitchell swooped in to save Rakic with the end coming at 3:11 in the first round.

“You all doubted me,” Murzakanov said after his latest win. “I told you. I told you not to doubt me. I’m very thankful to everybody here. I’m very thankful to the organization, to the UFC for giving me this chance. I told you I’m going to be fighting for the title. I want to fight for the No. 1 contender.”

Before the finish, Rakic showed off his kicking game early and often with several going to the legs and then reverberating his shin off Murzakanov’s midsection. He continued chipping away at Murzakanov with the kicks before looking for a couple of takedown attempts but Rakic just couldn’t maintain the position.

Just when it looked like Rakic was settling into a rhythm on his feet, he stepped forward and Murzakanov unloaded the brutal devastating hand that landed clean.

Rakic immediately dropped to the canvas with Murzakanov tagging him with one more shot just before the fight was stopped.

It was another impressive showing for Murzakanov, who is injecting some excitement into the light heavyweight division as he presents another interesting challenge while extending his overall win streak with this latest victory.
