The UFC has issued a statement regarding a fight involving Isaac Dulgarian this past Saturday night at UFC Vegas 110 after the betting lines shifted dramatically just before he walked to the octagon where he was ultimately submitted by Yadier Del Valle in the first round.
The controversy stems from Dulgarian initially being listed as a heavy favorite by every major sportsbook but the odds changed as the event was happening. While Dulgarian still closed as a favorite, his odds dropped and some sportsbooks actually removed the prop bets surrounding the fight like betting on a first-round finish.
Now the UFC has acknowledged that an investigation is ongoing into the situation after Dulgarian was reportedly released from the promotion just one day after the fight ended.
”Like many professional sports organizations, UFC works with an independent betting integrity service to monitor wagering activity on our events,” UFC officials said in a statement. “Our betting integrity partner, IC360, monitors wagering on every UFC event and is conducting a thorough review of the facts surrounding the Dulgarian vs. del Valle bout on Saturday, November 1.
“We take these allegations very seriously, and along with the health and safety of our fighters, nothing is more important than the integrity of our sport.”
After the fight ended, a couple of major sportsbooks actually offered refunds to customers who placed wagers on the fight. Both William Hill and Caesar’s Sportsbooks issued identical statements regarding bets that were placed on the Dulgarian fight on Saturday.
“Mobile customers with losing bets on the Dulgarian UFC fight will receive a cash credit within 24 hours (singles), or within 24 hours of the last leg being determined (Parlay/SGP/Super Parlay) should that bet have won without that leg included.”
Of course this isn’t the first time the UFC has faced allegations of betting irregularities surrounding fights.
Back in 2022, Darrick Minner lost a fight in the first round just after there was a huge swing in the betting lines for his matchup against Shayilan Nuerdanbieke. Afterwards, several sportsbooks actually stopped taking wagers on UFC as a result.
The UFC ultimately released Minner from his contract and also effectively issued a lifetime ban for his coach James Krause while informing fighters that anyone associated with him would no longer be allowed to compete in the promotion.
Former UFC fighter Jeff Molina was also removed from the promotion and eventually issued a three year suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission after he “placed significant bets” on the fight involving Minner, who was his teammate at the time. The commission admonished Molina for failing “to inform the commission of Minner’s serious injury” prior to his loss.
It remains to be seen what comes of the latest situation involving Dulgarian after his fight was also flagged for betting irregularities prior to the loss this past Saturday.
