The UFC’s weigh-in woes continue.
At Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 113, four fighters missed weight, including a pair of fighters who came in five pounds over the limit for their division. The offending fighters were Muin Gafurov and Gianni Vazquez, who both came in at 141 pounds for separate bantamweight contests, and Wang Cong and Eduarda Moura, who are actually set to fight one another Saturday.
Gafurov, a 12-year veteran, came in heavy for the first time in his five-fight UFC career. He previously missed weight once for an LFA bout in 2022, when he came in 0.2 pounds over the bantamweight limit and went on to defeat Herbeth Sousa via knockout.
Vazquez’s miss is more understandable, considering he stepped in on short notice this week for Said Nurmagomedov after the Russian fighter withdrew due to visa issues. Prior to getting the UFC call, Vazquez competed at 125 pounds in his most recent bout, but has fought as high as 155 pounds.
The misses come on the heels of two high-profile weigh-in incidents from the UFC’s first events of 2026. Ahead of UFC 324 on Jan. 24, Cameron Smotherman fainted after stepping off the scale and his bout against Ricky Turcios was cancelled.
At the UFC 325 official weigh-ins the following week, Road to UFC flyweight finalist Aaron Tau was caught cheating on the scale and not only missed out on the opportunity to earn a UFC contract, he was subsequently released.
The UFC has announced that Gafurov and Vazquez’s respective bouts with Jakub Wiklacz and Javid Basharat will proceed as catchweights with Gafurov and Vazquez forfeiting 25 percent of their purse as penalty.
Also official, Wang and Moura now compete in a catchweight bout with neither fighter incurring a purse penalty.
It wasn’t all bad news as bantamweight headliners Mario Bautista (135.5) and Vinicius Oliveira (136) successfully made weight. Oliveira’s weight was a point of contention in the lead-up to UFC Vegas 113 as he revealed that he starts fight camps around 50 pounds over the bantamweight limit, and was 30 pounds over at the start of fight week. As of now, the bout remains on track.
