Cameron Smotherman was at the center of a scary scene Friday at the UFC 324 official weigh-ins.
The bantamweight successfully made weight at 135.5 pounds for his bout with Ricky Turcios on Saturday in Las Vegas, but immediately fainted after stepping off the scale. Smotherman stumbled and fell face-first to the stage, hitting the ground loudly.
Medics immediately moved to help Smotherman, who briefly sat up before laying back down on the floor. He remained there for some time before standing and appearing to be conscious, though he had to be carried off the stage.
It is unclear what caused Smotherman to faint. The UFC later announced that his bout with Turcios is officially off of Saturday’s card.
“The Baby-Faced Killer” entered fight week on a two-loss skid after dropping decisions to Ricky Simon and Serhiy Sidey in 2025. Prior to those setbacks, Smotherman won his UFC debut against Jake Hadley. His pro record stands at 12-6.
