With Chad Mendes out, Aljamain Sterling steps in to face Benson Henderson at RAF 6

RAF 6 has seen a bit of a shakeup, and now, a battle between former undisputed UFC champions is set for Saturday’s event.

The promotion announced on Monday that Chad Mendes suffered an undisclosed injury, knocking him out of his scheduled matchup with Benson Henderson. Aljamain Sterling now steps in for Mendes in a 170-pound matchup. Ariel Helwani first reported the switch on Twitter.

RAF 6 takes place at Mullett Arena in Tempe, Ariz., and streams on FOX Nation.

Sterling, a former UFC bantamweight champion, gets back to work while he awaits his next UFC assignment. In his most recent bout, “Funk Master” earned a dominant decision victory over two-time featherweight title challenger Brian Ortega at UFC Shanghai this past August. Sterling is 2-1 since shifting divisions, including a lopsided decision victory against Calvin Kattar at UFC 300 in April 2024, and a competitive decision loss to Movsar Evloev at UFC 310 in December 2024.

Henderson stays busy in his post-MMA competitive career, as he’s taken part in matchups in the world of boxing, karate, and grappling. The former UFC lightweight champ makes his RAF debut this Saturday.

RAF 6 is headlined by a matchup between former two-division UFC champ Henry Cejudo and former WEC champ Urijah Faber.
